Slow Sink – Spurn

Slow Sink

There’s this thing that makes indie-folk troubadour Slow Sink a fresh catch. He’s neither the quirky confessor sentimentalizing on the purest of pains nor the radical observer writing about the social ills plaguing the country at the moment. He sounds isolated and hopelessly adrift, and in the case of “Spurn,” someone who’s got a knack for making stripped down songs with a heartbreaking story to tell. It’s the stuff of barenaked simplicity: no gloss, no stylized ambition, no resorting to charismatic appeal. His words do much of the talking—conversational and easy to grasp, but loaded with so much fire and sincerity.
